RAEX-Europe has organized the regional investment business-forum “Investment opportunities in clusters developing Russian regions”, which was held in Frankfurt am Main on the 29th of May 2018.
The regional investment business-forum “Investment opportunities in clusters developing Russian regions” was held in Frankfurt am Main on the 29th of May 2018. This event was dedicated to the export and investment potential of the Lipetsk region of the Russian Federation, which has one of the most developed machinery clusters in Russia.
The region was represented by the Deputy Head of the Administration of the Lipetsk Region - Andrey Kozoderov; Head of the Department for Investments and International Relations - Sergei Sharonin; Head of Innovation and Industrial Policy Department - Aleksei Shchedrov; as well as Head of the Department for Press, TV and Radio Broadcasting and Communications - Natalia Demyanova. In addition, one of the key elements of the region’s investment infrastructure - Development Corporation of Lipetsk Region – was represented by the CEO Alexander Ryaskov.
The event was opened by the welcoming speeches from Alexander Bulay, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Frankfurt am Main and Christian Tegethoff, Head of representation of the Russian-German Foreign Trade Chamber in Germany, which supported this event.
Andrey Kozoderov made an overview report on the Lipetsk region investment attractiveness and the potential opportunities for German business in the region. In particular, he described the region's position in the rankings of investment attractiveness, as well as the main foreign partners of the region.
His colleagues from the Administration of the Lipetsk Region – Mr. Schedrov and Mr. Ryaskov – presented the key measures of investment support, which are available in the region for foreign and national investors, as well as examples of German companies already operating in the region. Moreover, Andrey Shpilenko, Director of the Association of Clusters and Technology parks, made a detailed presentation about the new instrument recently introduced in the Russian Federation, called “industrial clusters”, which can help investors to identify the attractive niches in different Russian regions.
Representative of the event’s co-organizer Rating-Agentur Expert RA GmbH, Vladimir Gorchakov talked about the new product of the Agency - the ESG rating. ESG rating is a measure of how well the region manages its exposure to environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities. Rating-Agentur Expert RA GmbH assigned BBB[esg] ESG rating to the Lipetsk region, which means that the management of ESG related risks and opportunities is moderately high. The ratings of each section are: BB[e] environmental rating, BBB[s] social rating and AA[g] governance rating.
Representatives of the companies doing business on the territory of the region described the key advantages of working in the region, as well as the key challenges. In particular, the companies Kemin, DEGA Development, ROPA and HORSCH shared their experience of establishing production facilities in the region. Vice President for Operations at Kemin Agrifoods Europa Steven De Vos made a presentation showing decision process for localization of their factory in the region. Dr. Eberhard Krayl, Managing Director of ROPA Farhrzeug- und Maschinenbau GmbH, and Mr. Horst Keller, General Director of HORSCH Maschinen GmbH shared their experience of establishing new facilities in the Lipetsk region. In addition, Ms. Bukrinskaya, Deputy General Director for Strategic Development of DEGA Development, showed the key opportunities provided by the company for localization of foreign industrial investors in Russia.
